Education
Lumen offers photography education at every level — from one-evening introductions to a two-year Certificate Program. Classes, workshops, residencies, and youth programs are taught by working artists from across the Pacific Northwest.
Certificate Program
Lumen's two-year Certificate Program is a structured, cohort-based path through the technical, formal, and contextual practice of photography.
The program admits a single cohort of 16 students each fall. Tuition assistance is available for every student who qualifies.
Classes
Six- to eight-week evening and weekend classes covering the foundations of photography in B&W and color, digital workflow, lighting, and history.
Workshops
One- to three-day intensives taught by visiting and resident faculty. Workshops are open to students at every level unless otherwise noted.
Summer Teen Workshops
Two-week intensives for students ages 13–18. No prior experience required. Scholarships available.
Scholarships & Tuition Assistance
Lumen awards $48,000 in need-based and merit scholarships each year across every level of the program. Applications open twice yearly.
